Where were you 8 weeks ago?
Like most brides, in the few months after my wedding all the sensible eating and regular exercise went out the window. That combined with completing my last semester of post-grad study whilst working full time resulted in a decent amount of weight gain in a short amount of time. Whilst being a total cliché is quite funny (I even cut my hair short after the wedding), it’s actually not a lot of fun. I wasn’t feeling great about how I was looking and the fact that I had let myself go. The biggest issue was a serious lack of energy and motivation to get started again. It was the middle of winter after all and I’d got into a routine of cooking up hearty meals for my new hubby and eating just as much as he did! I’d trained with Peak Fitness Challenge before and really enjoyed it, so when Dale told me about the Your Best Body Challenge I was super keen and knew it was exactly what I needed to get me motivated again.
Where are you now after 8 weeks?
It has been really fun doing the Your Best Body Challenge with a group of like-minded people. The support from everyone at PFC training sessions has been so encouraging and really kept me going. I’m so happy with the results I have achieved in such a short space of time. I’ve lost 8.5kgs whilst maintaining my muscle mass, and I’ve greatly improved my hydration. I feel so much better about how I am looking and finally fit back into the slim side of the wardrobe. More importantly though I feel great, I have so much energy and I am loving working out again. Eight weeks ago I was struggling to jog 5km, having to stop and walk regularly. Last week I ran 12kms one evening, even better was the fact that I could happily train the next day too. I do a reasonably physical job with a high rate of work related injuries and before the challenge was struggling on and off with a few niggling back and shoulder problems. My core strength has improved greatly in eight weeks through PFC Gymstick and Tabata classes, and at home Fit Deck Pilates. I’m definitely feeling stronger and fitter for work and never dreamed of being able to maintain a hover for 4 ½ minutes! After eight weeks of Your Best Body Challenge I am now in a healthier routine. The changes in my mind-set and eating habits have been one of the best parts of the challenge. I am much more aware of the not only the fat and calorie content of the food I consume, but more importantly the carb and protein content. Snacking on protein has greatly reduced my urge to continually graze my way through the afternoon, thank goodness for protein bars! I have started another cycle of the Healthpointe program and only have a few kilograms left to reach my ideal weight, then it’s all about maintenance. I really feel like the changes I have already made to my eating habits are what is going to make maintaining a healthy weight achievable. How The Challenge Works:

Monday 19th March is the final health assessment and post challenge fitness testing session followed by a presentation/celebration breakfast on Saturday 24th March!

Where were you 8 weeks ago?
After seeing the last challenges amazing results I was motivated to take my training and fitness to the next level. Coming out of winter like most people my energy levels were very low. Although I was still training regularly I had a bad case of “the can’t be bothereds”. I was waking up tired, looking tired and struggling to get through an average day.
I had decided it was now time to focus on combining the right foods as well as challenge and push my fitness. My main goal was to improve my running, which would in time help me to loose weight and tone up. I had just completed my first 10km fun run that I had been working towards. Although I was proud of my efforts on going the distance, I had hoped to do another one at the end of the challenge and improve on my time and result. Where are you now after 8 weeks?
Week eight has arrived, and I can definitely say my general fitness and well being has improved, way more than I expected it would over an eight week period. I'm feeling a lot more happier and energetic day by day.
I now understand that everyday counts and its not all about "starting on Monday".
I completed my final 10km fun run yesterday, cutting 17mins off my time from 8 weeks ago and finishing under 60mins. Something I would never have dreamed of doing.
Although the 8 week challenge may be over I feel that it's more of a start for me to continue on and stay motivated (especially over the Christmas period!!!)
I plan to keep on setting new goals for the future, and who knows maybe do a half marathon next year??? Lee won the Beach Body Challenge and lost 3.6kgs, 20.5cms total, 2.7% body fat and improved her fitness by 42%.

Wow, where do I start? I have achieved more that I thought possible, one of my goals was to be able to run 10km which I managed to do in week 6, I am now fitter than guys ½ my age and I am talking to my cricket coach and organizing some drills etc to help the guys with their fitness, I am registering for the Run Geelong which is a 12km run, I have actually worn out a pair of runners from actually running (I know it sounds odd), my goal weight is within reach as I have lost just shy of 10kgs and with the tools I now have I know how to get there. I couldn’t understand why people would go running/jogging, just couldn’t see the point? Now I see and have the bug I want others to get it! I do my best thinking running along the river or waterfront, watching the sun come up listening to my iPod, it’s a great way to start the day! I feel awesome, not sure of a better way to describe it, my weight is under control, my fitness has increased, I need a new wardrobe as none of my pant fit correctly, my appetite has changed and I don’t feel like I need to stop at the milk bar for a pie or chips or whatever it may be! I am sleeping soundly and waking up full of energy. My life has changed in that I now have the tools to help/guide others (Dad & Sister) to a healthier lifestyle, I haven’t seen my parent for 6 months and I think they will be pleasantly shocked. Now when I go supermarket shopping I am a food critic and best of all so are my wife and kids! I have every intention on sticking to this and yes I will have the odd bad day or weekend but I can now confidently get on the scales and know why they are up or down and fix it before the spiral begins! Over the 8 weeks I have lost approximately 13 kilos and quite a few centimetres overall. I feel great; full of energy. I no longer take Panadol at night to sleep, as my body no longer aches. I no longer feel grumpy and miserable. I feel I am now a much nicer person to be around. I have been out socially, to dinner and lunch. I relaxed my eating plan during those periods. But although I had given myself permission to relax, I found I no longer craved the white carbs I loved so much before, and therefore chose better options and ate less, without planning to. I remember raving to those I was with about how great the salad tasted. I previously avoided salad. At the celebratory breakfast I remember looking at the thick wads of white toast they were serving, and thinking to myself, “I am so relieved I didn’t order that”. Just the thought of eating it made me feel queasy. Previously I would have been “Oh wow, thick, luscious white toast”, must have some!”. With gentle coaxing from Dale I have even tried out and surprisingly coped with the boxing and gymstick classes 2 nights in the week. I have now joined this on a regular basis. This combined with my gym membership, which I intend to continue as well. As I have commenced studying Social Work this year, I believe this has also assisted me to cope, by learning new behaviours and changed thinking instead of turning to food to cope. I actually feel I have much more energy, using these than I did when I used the prescribed medication to lose weight, which was akin to using speed.
