GRAND CHAMPION- PRUDENCE CLISSOLD
Prudence lost 6kgs, 22cms total, 2.5% body fat and improved her fitness by 70%.
Prudence's story:
Where were you 6 weeks ago?
6 weeks ago I was unhappy with the way I was looking and feeling, and having serious difficulty losing weight on my own. After spending most of the last 12 months completing a postgraduate degree and spending the majority of my spare time sitting in front of a textbook or computer screen (usually with some form of food to keep me company) I had gained approximately 10kgs. For several weeks leading up to the beginning of the challenge I had tried to lose those extra kilos by myself, by attempting to eat healthy and exercising, but they just wouldn’t budge. I was also struggling to develop a routine around my shift work, so when Mum presented me with the idea to join the challenge (and offered to pay for it!), I jumped at the opportunity.
How did you feel 3-weeks into the New Year Revolution Challenge?
By week 3 I was just starting to get a hang of the healthpointe program. I had always considered myself to be a healthy eater, and I still do, but my knowledge on foods was very poor - I was eating the right foods, but at the wrong times of day or in the wrong combinations. I found the first 2 weeks to be quite difficult. It took nearly the whole 2 weeks to fully get a grasp of the program including which foods I should eat and when. I have always been an active person, so I really enjoyed the exercise component of the program. This meant I could focus on improving the nutrition component of the program. Coming into week 3, my weight had already dropped considerably and I was seeing great improvements in my measurements as well, which was a real confidence booster. I was beginning to understand how my daily weight responded to different foods, making it easier to plan my meals, and how my body responded to different types of exercise. I was already starting to receive comments from friends, family and co-workers on how good I was looking. I found that as the weeks progressed I had more and more motivation to exercise at difficult times, for example, after night shift, or early in the morning. Seeing the benefits of this really helped keep the fire alive inside me to continue through to the end.
Where are you now after 6 weeks?
After only 6 weeks I cannot believe how much better I am actually feeling, not just physically but mentally too. People have complimented me on both my decreased size and how much happier I am. I have lost a total of 6kg which puts me well and truly on my way to the total of 10kg I would like to lose by the end of April. The transformations I have made over the last 6 weeks have enabled me to return to netball and triathlons with greater confidence in my ability to perform. Just last weekend I completed the Portarlington triathlon, my first of this season, and it felt fantastic. Not only did I improve on my times from last season, but I also enjoyed it so much more. Through the knowledge and understanding I have gained over the past 6 weeks, not only about exercise and nutrition, but also about myself, I have great confidence that I will be able to carry on post the challenge and continue to lose the remaining 4kg, and keep them off. The biggest thing the challenge has taught me is that shift work is not an obstacle - it’s an excuse! But with planning, I can still find the right balance between work, nutrition and exercise.
JOINT RUNNERS UP- MATT SQUIRE & ANGE PERISIC
Matt lost 6.3kgs, 17.5cms, 3.1% body fat and improved his fitness by 64% & Ange lost 3.5kgs, 21cms, 2.8% body fat and improved her fitness by 64% also.
Where are you now after six weeks?
The final week of the challenge arrived and I was feeling positive. My fitness had improved and I was noticing a change in how my clothes were fitting. Others were noticing a difference too- it was nice to hear positive comments being made. My hard work was paying off. I had more energy, motivation, felt healthier and fitter. I have formed better eating and exercise habits and generally felt amazingly better than I did six weeks ago. I am still not where I want to be but I have set new goals for myself and plan to continue with Health Pointe and training with Dale to help me reach my next set of goals. I have the knowledge to continue and I now believe in myself more and know that if I set my mind to it I will achieve these goals too.

Where are you now after 6 weeks?
After six weeks I can comfortably say my fitness had improved significantly. I’ve reached the end of a few sessions and found myself thinking “is that it?” – after having worked my backside off for the whole session! I’ve also noticed the improvement in fitness playing sport outside of training – I have been able to run out games of basketball comfortably, and am chasing a lot more shots down at tennis on a Saturday… the foot-speed is back!. Generally, I’m feeling a lot healthier and happier. I’m more alert during the day at work and am finding it easier to keep up with the high demands of my job. I’ve also achieved my goal weight set at the start of the challenge (which has actually been an ongoing goal for a long time) so I’m stoked about that. I’m now able to set new goals! Knowing that I’ve stuck to the healthier eating is one of the more encouraging things for me personally because that’s where I usually trip up. I now know that I can do it. I’ve done it before and will continue to do it!
